Our Commitment to the Environment

Canada Greener Homes Grant

We are very excited to be in an industry that is a part of the new stimulus program, and to help play a part in the Pan-Canadian Framework on Clean Growth and Climate Change.

Do you want to make your home more energy efficient? We offer ENERGY STAR products that qualify for the Canada Greener Homes Rebate.

The Canada Greener Homes Grant can help you save money with:

ENERGY STAR

The ENERGY STAR® symbol is the internationally recognized and trusted mark of high efficiency. The symbol means that a product, new home, building or industrial facility is certified as energy efficient.

Recycling

Home and Cottage Windows and Doors have always recycled our aluminum scrap, keeping thousands of pounds of scrap metal out of landfills. In fact, if our customers have any additional scrap metal in their homes, we'll haul it away for free.

Most old windows from other companies end up in landfills.  That's because there's a serious lack of recycling operations that specialize in windows and doors, and breaking windows into recyclable components can be dangerous and time-consuming. That's why Home and Cottage Windows and Doors has dedicated employees to break down, sort and recycle old windows, doors and other building materials.

Donations

We give your previously loved windows and doors a second chance at life by donating to our local Habitat for Humanity Restore, which is a home and building supply establishment that resells high-quality used building materials. Donating to or shopping at a Habitat ReStore is a socially and environmentally conscious decision. You help the environment by breaking the vicious cycle of accumulating things and throwing them away. But more importantly, you become instrumental in generating funding for your local Habitat for Humanity that builds decent homes for less fortunate families.

Upcycling

Windows and doors that are not accepted by Habitat for Humanity are donated to local artists who repurpose them into a creative new product, such as miniature greenhouses, flowering plant racks, or benches. This is another way we support our local community and continue to be Eco-conscious.
