SOFFIT, FASCIA & EAVESTROUGH

SOFFIT & FASCIA

An exterior soffit is located on the span beneath the rafter tails, while the fascia is the exposed horizontal band you see at the end of the rafters. These architectural elements found along the eave area do more than just add visual interest and give a finished look to your home. They help protect the exterior of your house by keeping out pests like bats, birds and squirrels, and give you a way to disguise ventilation for your attic. Properly installed soffit provides essential ventilation and air circulation to reduce excess moisture, preventing mold buildup and rotting beams.

EAVESTROUGH

An Eave is a section of roof that extends over a wall to create a clear drip line that protects the wall from rainwater damaging the wall. An eavestrough is mounted to the outer edge of the eave and acts as a rain gutter, which is why eavestroughs are often commonly referred to as simply "gutters".
